Trafficking and sexual exploitation of children look very different than what's portrayed in the media. Although some populations are more at-risk than others, all children share some vulnerabilities. In this webinar series, Stephanie V. Blank Center and other invited experts strive to provide quality education and concrete exploitation prevention strategies related to child sex trafficking. Join us as we introduce topics related to the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC), from providing medical care to serving survivors.

While certain webinars may cater to a specific field or audience, such as healthcare or social work, all webinars are applicable to a variety of audiences, including parents and other caregivers.

The Child Sex Trafficking webinar series aims to:

  • Educate individuals on identifying potential victims of child sex trafficking.
  • Help others recognize the multifaceted issue of child sex trafficking and the parties involved.
  • Provide concreate prevention and treatment strategies.


In addition to learning strategies to prevent child maltreatment and make safe, stable, and nurturing environments possible for all children for all children, participants in our 1.5-hour trainings will also receive:

  • Certificate of Attendance or Continuing Education Credits (CEUs)
    • 1.5 NCPD credit for nurses
    • 1.5 CME credit for MD/DOs, PA/NPs
    • 1.5 core credit for social work, LPC and LMFT
    • 2.0 POST credits for law enforcement

The Medical Evaluation of Victims of Child Sex Trafficking

Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from noon to 1:30 p.m.
This module focuses on the role of medical providers in the evaluation and treatment of victims of child sex trafficking. Participants will learn about victim identification, how to properly gather information from the victim, how to conduct the medical exam, how to provide appropriate testing and treatment, and what referrals can made on behalf of the victim.

Special Topics in Trafficking: The Victim's Perspective

November 12, 2024, from noon to 1:30 p.m.
This module takes a comprehensive look at trafficking from the victims' perspective and will focus on the lesser recognized victims of trafficking, males and LGBT youth. These populations have specific risk factors that increase their likelihood of victimization and decrease the opportunities for services and prevention. In this module, we will also discuss how advocates can best attempt to understand how a victim's perspective of their exploitation will impact them during and after leaving "the life." The speaker will address resiliency of victims during their exploitation and how they can move forward to empowerment. Additional topics include how public perception/stigma of victims impacts how they see themselves and examples of successful recovery and restoration programs.

The Fundamentals of Child Sex Trafficking

Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Join this webinar to learn about strategies adults can use when discussing hard topics with youth, such as child sexual abuse, body safety, and consent. Participants will learn how strategies like active listening, reframing, using open-ended questions, or reading can help adults cultivate a meaningful and productive conversations.
