Providers are seeing the impact of the childhood obesity epidemic firsthand. Here in Georgia, nearly one million of our kids are either obese or overweight, and more children are now suffering from diseases once seen only in adults, such as heart disease, hypertension, liver and kidney disease, and type 2 diabetes.
Our introductory Strong4Life Provider Training Program, Improving the Effectiveness of Childhood Obesity Counseling, sets the foundation for all of the provider trainings we offer. This free training is designed to help you initiate effective patient conversations about BMI measurement, nutrition and physical activity. In just two hours, our trainers will share effective motivational interviewing techniques and tools to help families set attainable goals to drive sustainable behavior change.
- Receive free resources, such as BMI posters, health assessment forms, goal sheets and more.
- Receive free continuing medical education (CME) credits.
- Increase behavior-change goal setting with patients.
- Increase confidence in use of motivational interviewing counseling techniques.
All health care providers working with families and children (of all ages) to address healthy behaviors are welcome, including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians and registered nurses.
